What are the key challenges that are likely to affect your sector in the next five years?

With increasing focus on sustainable construction the challenge for consultancies will be to stay relevant in terms of the expertise offered. Today’s specialisms will increasingly be tomorrow’s expected core services.

Why did you want to become a Quantity Surveyor?

I was enthusiastic to explore a career in the construction industry first and foremost, and quantity surveying in particular. This has provided me with the opportunity to undertake a variety of work within a range of workplace settings, utilising my mathematical and analytical skills.

What is your favourite building and why?

The Macallan Distillery, which is a project I worked on from design stage to completion. The result was a state of the art facility whose design perfectly complements its stunning Scottish Highlands setting.
