Hard to choose, but Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte and The Secret History by Donna Tartt are the books I’ve read over and over again. Jane Eyre because a) it’s in Yorkshire where I’m from, and b) the Bronte’s were ahead of their time in some ways (though the practice of locking ‘mad’ women in the attic is somewhat questionable). The Secret History because it’s simply brilliant but also because I was studying classics (as they are in the book) when it came out and it resonated. Except for the murdering bits…
