Matt is a chartered surveyor with 15 years’ experience in the construction industry.
After graduating from Loughborough University Matt joined Turner & Townsend where he rose to be a member of the senior leadership team and was head of the commercial developer cost management team. Matt has wide ranging industry experience. He has worked on significant residential and mixed-use schemes up to £800m million in value. He has also worked on several national frameworks and developments for blue chip clients.
Matt’s experience enables him to advise clients across all aspects of commercial management including cost modelling and benchmarking, procurement, supply chain management, commercial project controls and value management. Matt joined Equals in 2018.
Simon has worked in the property and infrastructure sector for nearly 30 years and has experience of both project and business leadership.
He started his career at Hanscomb in the late 1980’s, and having progressed to Director, following an acquisition by Faithful and Gould was a Board Director of Faithful and Gould. He has since held senior leadership positions at Mace, RLB and before joining Equals in 2016 was an Executive Director at Capita, leading the Property and Infrastructure business.
Simon has had leadership roles in some of London’s major projects over recent years, such as the London 2012 Olympic Athlete’s Village, the refurbishment of the Foreign & Commonwealth Office in Whitehall and Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 5.
Caroline is a chartered Quantity Surveyor with many years experience. She started her career with a major building contractor in Manchester, and after five years she moved into private practice. The experience gained from working on both sides of the construction industry has proved invaluable.
On moving to London, Caroline joined Hanscomb and following their acquisition by Atkins/Faithful+Gould she became an Associate Director. Over the nine years with Faithful+Gould she worked on major commercial and mixed use developments, and both residential and educational schemes.
Caroline has also led cost planning teams for a number of overseas masterplans including schemes in Western Africa, Saudi Arabia and Angola.
Brian started his career at Hanscomb, and following their acquisition by Atkins/Faithful+Gould continued to work at Faithful+Gould until he joined Equals in 2015.
Brian has gained valuable and varied experience throughout his career, working on bespoke individual projects as well as experiencing working client side for three years with a major financial firm.
Brian has major project experience, and has worked on several multi-million £ office and residential projects as well as smaller, more intricate schemes within listed and heritage buildings.
Adam began his career gaining work at John Cobb Consulting, a small QS practice in Surrey. In 2006 he joined Savant (now AECOM) where he was involved in a wide variety of projects.
Since joining Equals in 2011, Adam has worked in a variety of sectors and types of facilities including sports and public realm, large scale and private residential schemes, commercial and corporate offices, hotels and education.
He has worked with many of the UK’s signature architects and understands the complexities of costing a project within budget while maintaining the integrity of the design.
Ciaran has almost twenty years’ experience in project and cost management, gained from working for both construction consultancy firms and a leading main contractor.
He has led a number of large masterplan and construction projects and has strong technical and construction management skills, acquired from many years managing construction projects on site.
Ciaran has worked on projects in many sectors and he has completed numerous projects in the UK, Europe, Central Asia, Middle East and Africa.
Ciaran previously worked for Laing O’Rouke and Capita and joined Equals in 2018.
Michael began his career in Dublin in the early 80’s with Boyd Associates quantity surveyors. Moving to the UK he then joined Hanscomb, where he became a Director and Shareholder. At Hanscomb he developed a reputation for working with developer and owner occupier clients, delivering significant projects in London and the South East alongside working in the media sector.
Following the sale of Hanscomb to Atkins/Faithful+Gould he became a Director of Faithful+Gould within the London and South East region, primarily working as Project Director on commercial projects and also leading major projects in the Middle East. He then joined the board of Faithful+Gould taking on the responsibility for commercial services for the UK and Ireland.
Michael is highly regarded and experienced in the commercial development sector and is viewed as an expert in development project economics and delivery. He has also provided cost management services on a significant number of major masterplans, both in the UK and overseas.
Tim began his career in the construction sector working for AMEC Capital Projects in the 1990s. He later joined Ballast as a bid manager working on PFI projects, before working as a quantity surveyor for AYH plc based in Manchester. Tim then joined Savant (now AECOM) in London where he worked for five years until joining Equals in 2010.
Tim has experience of providing project management and cost consultancy services from the planning phase through to project delivery and has worked on prestigious and demanding projects for high profile clients. He is experienced in managing both new build construction and refurbishment projects within occupied spaces.
Tim’s varied experience covers a number of sectors providing services for public and private sector clients, private developers, museum, retail and hotel clients and various client groups within the education sector.
Declan started his career with WMQS and Glenman Corporation in Ireland before leaving to join Equals in 2012. Since joining Equals, Declan has worked on a diverse range of projects, including commercial office schemes in central London and several major new residential developments. He has also been involved in a number of projects for further education colleges, as well as the fast track fit out of several new stores for a major sports footwear retailer across the UK.
With nearly 10 years’ experience within the industry, Declan has an advanced technical understanding of the full project life cycle, and has experience of working within the consultancy and contracting side of the industry. He is extremely client focused with excellent communication skills allowing him to deliver understandable and articulate cost and procurement advice.
A chartered surveyor since 2012, and qualified RICS assessor, Declan has subsequently gone on to mentor and assist junior colleagues in gaining their professional qualifications.
Don has over twenty years of experience in cost and project management. Graduating with a BSc in quantity surveying from the University of Salford, Don was an Associate with Hanscomb UK for 6 years and with Hanscomb Faithful+Gould in New York for 5 years. He then moved to Savant where he was a UK Director until 2009. Following the acquisition of Savant by AECOM, he was a Director with the AECOM cost and project management team.
Don has provided project and cost management services on a wide range of building types, including media, corporate and commercial, education and aviation facilities. His talents lie in the ability to be able to work closely with both clients and architects to interpret their vision and ensure designs can be successfully realised within budget.
Neil is an building services expert with over 20 years experience. After gaining his BSc (Hons) degree he started his career within the quantity surveying team of a consulting engineering practice. Initially working for a major building contractor, he then moved over into private practice with Hanscomb.
Following their 2002 acquisition by Atkins/Faithful+Gould, he was promoted to lead the engineering services cost management team in London. Neil led the team in London for twelve years before joining Equals in 2014.
Neil’s particular expertise is in the early conceptual planning and estimating of complex, innovative projects where information is limited, often involving high profile design practices.
Jane graduated in 2001 with a BA in Business Studies. She initially started her career in HR, and while working for Scottish & Newcastle (part of the Heineken Group) Jane discovered an aptitude for project management. Jane joined Savant (now AECOM) in 2007 as assistant project manager, and following a secondment into the BBC, Jane joined Equals in 2010.
Jane is an organised, efficient and resourceful project manager with strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
She has worked on many diverse projects across a range of sectors including workplace, media, education and the arts.
James is both a chartered project management surveyor and registered architect with close to 20 years consultancy experience.
James qualified and practiced as an architect on retail, commercial and education schemes for design offices in Sydney, San Francisco and London. Relishing the strategic side of the industry, in 2005 he joined Drivers Jonas (later merged with Deloitte) to work as a project manager on some of the major cultural projects of recent years. James led the Culture Heritage & Education team prior to joining Equals in 2014. He also has wide ranging experience spanning retail, private residential, interior fit out and education schemes.
James specialises in significant, complex projects with challenging delivery and funding requirements. He currently assesses project management candidates for the RICS professional qualification and has also sat on the CIC London BIM hub and the IESE (Improvement & Efficiency South East) BIM Task group.
Sean has over twenty years’ experience within the property industry, including ten years at large multi-disciplinary consultant and prior to this fourteen years with a leading international building contractor.
He is a proven and effective leader and takes a collaborative approach to the management of costs, working successfully with design teams and contractors to successfully deliver projects to budget.
Sean’s experience includes projects in a variety of sectors including residential, large mixed-use developments and international office schemes within the EMEA and Asia pacific regions.
With 10 years in the construction industry, Adam started his career with Currie and Brown, moving to Turner and Townsend before joining Equals in 2018.
Adam is experienced in providing cost management services from inception through to completion and has been instrumental in the successful delivery of numerous notable projects in London. His experience includes leading the delivery of cost management services on new build mixed use projects with multiphase procurement models, including Private Rental Sector, private sale and local authority developments.
Adam also has a strong background in commercial office refurbishment schemes ranging from shell and core to CAT B and including significant structural modifications of listed buildings. Adam is well versed in providing acquisition support, funder due diligence services, complex procurement advice and master planning guidance.
Head of Marketing and BD
Graduating from Reading University in 1995 with a degree in Classical Studies, Joanna later began her career in professional services marketing with Faithful+Gould. Over the last fifteen years she has worked with companies such as Grant Thornton, GVA Grimley, Savant and AECOM, where she was Marketing Director of the project management division across Europe, before leaving to join Equals in 2011.
Joanna’s roles have been varied, covering everything from re-branding companies to running client relationship programmes, and she has brought that range of expertise to Equals to oversee the marketing and business development of the company.
Tony began his career in construction in the late 1980’s, and has since worked as a project manager in companies such as Peel Holdings, Bucknall Austin and BT, and spent 8 years at the BBC where he was head of Workplace Solutions. He then joined Savant in 2008, leaving in 2010 to work as the Project Director on the British Museum’s World Conservation and Exhibitions Centre. Tony joined Equals in 2013.
Tony has extensive experience of managing major building projects up to £300m in value at project director level. This includes the co-ordination of property, technology, new ways of working, migration management and facilities management workstreams. He has led projects involving elements of urban regeneration, creation of public spaces, and area masterplanning.
Gary is an engineering services quantity surveyor with over 28 years’ experience in the construction industry. Gary started his career as an apprentice, and then joined EC Harris in 2001, moving to Core Five and in 2017 joined Equals.
Gary has worked across a range of sectors and projects including corporate real estate, residential, large mixed-use developments, commercial offices, leisure and mission critical. He is fully conversant with the technologies employed across many sectors and able to communicate very effectively, having experience in client facing projects where front end discussions are key to understanding the client’s requirements.
Gary has previously worked for clients such as Barclays Bank, Land Securities, Tishman Speyer, Digital Realty, Lloyds Banking Group and Thomson Reuters.
